Mini Campmeeting

Inside our lovely church

Moms and grandma's looking after and feeding their children after a long sermon and hot day but still with a smile preparing the meal together. Lots of beans, noodle, rice, green curried lentils, roasts, salads of every kind, and of course dessert on the other table.. very good vegetarian meal.

Worms

Click on the picture below and join the ladies to see what the have done.......

or click on this Kelli's Show and Tell

I collected these little jars a year or two ago and just today filled them with poppyseeds and some with candied almonds. we are having a mini campmeeting at our church this weekend and am decorating the sanctuary with flowers and trees and with this charcoal drawing that I have put off finishing for a whole year.
then with matting i purchased at the craft store made these frames with a ribbon behind to put on the walls in between the windows. for such a worm as I

Alas! And did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would he devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
Was it for crimes that I have done,
He groaned upon the tree?

Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!
But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away, –‘
Tis all that I can do.
- At the Cross by Isaac Watts, 1885

Well!, who would ever think that I would want a worm, it's my birthday in a day, and my sister gave me worms because i asked for them. She grows them too. They make very good rich compost out of all your scraps.

I don't know as I would touch them but with gloved hands and a spoon-oh dear!---but they are pets besides my plants!!!! Here they have just arrived in an original package--I could be a kid just getting a new toy!!!

here they are, all alive and wiggling and snuggled together under a piece of damp paper..... here is their new home with more dirt, veggies and paper at the bottom.....
Some times I feel like a worm, in the dirt eating stuff nobody wants, and sometimes I fell good too --giving people around me rich things to think about and even some good things to eat ---

Isa 41:14 -
"Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you," says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

the bible does not have too many positive things to say about a worm but in the case of this verse and the one where he taught Jonah a lesson. But look at this--how many good things come out of a worm in the end result!!!!.................

A busy day

the day started with this 3- 9x12 chocolate cakes with vanilla creame and bananas with whipped cream icing, I was able to get someone to print me an edible picture for the top. Dandylions and ivy with forget me nots ...... then i made a mad dash to Terrace to pick up some flowers for the church and on the way home I took some pictures and just enjoying the countryside, as you can see the day is sunny and hot, everyone is out shopping, gardening and rushing around. Last night the neighbors porch and some of the house burnt down and thankfully no one was seriously hurt. Here is an eagle's nest and there is an eagle nesting as you can see her moving around everyonce in a while.
Here is the mighty Skeena River in flood......
and blackberries to munch on.......
The aroma of Skink Cabbages filled the air, I love them and the smell!!! They are huge- must be four feet tall, growing right beside the road......
A waterfall cascading between the rocks.....
and now I get to sink into my new bed that i bought today for $49.

the knock at the door

There is a couple who have lost a baby and when it was born lived for two hours. The parents and children were with the baby in her last moments together. the Angie and Todd Smith story on Bring the Rain blog.
I am sitting here at the end of this preparation Friday night finishing a six and a half hour work day, everything is ready for the Sabbath-a dinner made, which is very little, a vegan chocolate pudding with strawberries and a salad. The garden is watered and planted with the peas that have been sprouted throughout the week, most of the strawberries have been transplanted, dishes done, house clean and yes even bath is over.

The moment is here, when the day ends and sunset marks the beginning of a new day, a peace, a holy rest, and God steps his foot on the thresh hold of our doors, and we are ready for Him to come in!!!! It's breathless!!

I take this picture of the setting sun and suddenly realize that there are two crows in the middle sitting on the wire and wonder. I have gone thru this life alone many times wishing it were different. Many times God has seen me thru the daily chores of living, bringing blessing after blessing which i sometimes fail to see because i want things to go my way.
God can handle our getting mad at him, He just want s us to trust him in any situation.
So today this is what I have seen thru my window thru the words of Angie - 'Trust is believing in someone who is going to be with you no matter what the road is doing in front of you or behind you '- I choose to let God come into my door. I am still happy.

You ask Him too.....

Blooper and a sunset

The good part of the day as the sun set, a beautiful rainbow, first of the spring which i missed because my camera batteries went dead, but i caught this with the sun shining thru the trees. Georgeous colors!!!!
and now for the blooper. woops! there went my toaster! forgot to pull the cord away, the thing caught on fire and sparked, so I just yanked the cord out of the plug in and now i am "forced" to buy a new one. Oh that will be fun! I get to go shopping!.....

Kitchen Sink Soup

This is what i had for dinner yesterday---lots of water with chicken style seasoning, little bit of soy sauce, fresh onions, tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, celery, leek, Udon noodles, broccoli and barely cook it --still crisp--and yum the flavors of delicious Here are some morals i found in the yard --i don't know wether they are the good kind or brain morals

And my most favorite of all flowers the purple violet, my wedding bouquet had these, i have two cups from New Bruswick with violets on them and a tiny tea set....there are only four flowers in the whole yard i was so excited......

Chez Beverly

I did not get around to doing anything crafty today as I had a little restaurant in my kitchen. A fun thing I do for the dental clinic i work for. We have lunch and they pay me for it. Here is a picture of the craftiest thing i did today--hah it was quick. My sister had given me the white paper lace and the frame was found at a second hand shop, I had a pink bow sitting around and letters from scrapbooking. The dental clinic dubbed me the title!!!The menu was Squash Soup, which is a favorite of everyone's it seems, green salad with lots of veggies and hemp dressing, and ground flax to put on top, banana chips and flax bread for the side, 2 salads, one with oranges, the other with tomato.
I made Flax and onion bread and also some sunflower bread the traditional way-I sold it sorry no picture!!

and butter tarts which i burnt but they took some home to their husbands anyway!!! because we are country people and i told them clarisa said she liked my cooking wether it was burnt or not. Nice chilren I have eh!!!!I also really got in the cooking mode and made some sweet potato chips with sea salt cumin and olive oil. you can dehyrate these or bake them.

and finally some rhubarb custard pie, rhubarb which is just starting to grow in my garden. It turned out so nice. Pie crust was just very flaky and tasty!! I used 1 cup of Crisco, 2 cups white flour, dash of ordinary salt, 2 tbsp sugar and 5-4 tbsp of water.
For the filling i use approximate measures even though i was looking at the recipe-so here goes-1 1/2cup of sugar, 1/4 cup flour, pinch of nutmeg, mix that in with finely cut rhubarb, and pour an egg mixture over that which is 1/2 pint or more of cream, and a good tbsp or so of vanilla, i used three eggs. I baked that for almost an hour at 350 as it was a large pie.

Thursday out to town

Guess what we saw the other day????!!!! It should be no surprise but there was snow on the mountain--it had snowed about a quarter of the way down. This picture of the river is taken by Trout Creek--lots of chocolate milk out there with spring run-off coming.

These two pictures are taken at Morristown where the river comes to a narrow gorge, a famous tourist spot where you can get smoked salmon by the native people there.

Saw two bears, a deer yesterday. This poor bear did not move an inch where he was, close by the road, he looked so poor, his coat full of burrs, I wish i could step out and pick them off. I saw a little lady bug also.
