Old Album Scrapbook

I Had this sitting in my bookshelf for a year or something and never really looked at it till now. Mom-(both my parents are gone now)-had glued old cards and pictures of the Czar of Russia, Queen Victoria and their family picture, so they would be a good 70 years or so old I guess. Initials of my great great grandmother were found on some of the cards.
She loved dolls and flowers and pink things and roses as I do. A lot of these little tiny cards you can see in the picture here were printed with flowers and a Bible verse.

This is Hoods 1898 coupon Calendar picture. you can find one on ebay right now for $20.

I love pansies too. Some one had very beautiful handwriting as did my mother, with lots of swirls. This looks very close to calligraphy.
Today I had a visit with my youngest daughter, they live about an hour away, still a bit to travel when the price of gas is so high. It was very nice to have them home, We made bread and lentil loaf and played in the garden. Looked for worms which the little one was terribly afraid of. She screamed and lifted her feet off the ground as if to get away from the bugs that might be walking under her feet!!!! she is smelling a crocus and saying it smell soooo goood grandmom!!!

I had a bunch of buttons around that i strung on a pink ribbon and hid them in a music box with a ladybug finger puppet and a tiny bitsy baby doll and a winney the pooh watch. She loved it. The buttons were her favorite and she put them over her head and said I am a lady now!!!!!
They say when you see the first shoots of rhubarb that Spring is here. and surely it must be because there they are!!! Four plants of them. And we had our first warm rain storm today also. Yeah.
Here is the
RECIPE for LENTIL LOAF.
Hope you like it. I tried to measure but it is too hard. Anyway here is the approx measurements: always heap the cups full and when you say it is going to be one loaf it will end up being two!!
2 cups cooked lentils
2 cups of cornflakes
big heaping tsp of sage- i like sage
2 tbsp chicken style seasoning
1/4 oil
3 eggs
1 can evaporated milk
you can add 1/2 cup 0r so of ground nuts-optional
1 large onion chopped
2-3 stalks of chopped celery
press into loaf pans or casserole dish with ketchup gravy on top, bake 350 for 35-45 min until the top is brown and crusty. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, and cheescake for dessert.

Plug Ins

Good Morning All!!! Lets plug in and get the latest on the weather. Oh Yes ! SNOW. Well it is pretty out and it will water the earth and it will melt.
Here is the latest project I did, just yesterday. I took the china cabinets down, put on walpaper in its place as you can see here, opened the space up quite a bit so I was able to put in a larger table in the kitchen. I also put in match red and black plaid-like the tablecloth, curtains too and an extra black and pink rose picture on the wall. Perhaps i should just take a picture and show you eh!!! Below you can see I put wallpaper above the cupboards too. Looks nice I think!.

Pr 25:13 -
Like the cold of snow in time of harvest Is a faithful messenger to those who send him, For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Pr 26:1 - As snow in summer and rain in harvest, So honor is not fitting for a fool.

Isa 1:18 - "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

Granddaughter and US going for a ride --peek a boo!
Here is what i made for dessert today. A cheesecake. I went to a restaurant called 'Jazz'. They had the most delicious looking one there only it was coffee so i thought i would copy it. I put in postum because i don't drink coffee!!! It tasted real good. Put a chocolate whipping cream icing on it with raspberry sauce. yum. Except my whipping cream turned to butter for some reason and my clients had to eat it plain. They did not complain!!! Here is the recipe:
4 boxes of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
4 eggs (I added an extra one by mistake 5 eggs)
1 1/2 cups white sugar
good 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla
2 tbsp or so of thick Postum. real thick. Add while mixing till it is a light brown in color.
Beat all that in a mixer till light and fluffy then add the 1 1/2 cups of sour cream.
Pour into a chocolate wafer crust and bake 335 for 1 hour bringing it out just until before it is done.
Hope you can follow these instructions. I do a lot of guessing and dump work when I cook.

Pictures on the wall

One of the first signs of spring is when the Gooseberry bush by the bridge starts to turn green and here is it still snowing and cold and this bush still shoots out its leaves. Supposed to snow again this weekend!! Below are some old keys that i found around the bottom of some old drawers. They make nice pictures for the wall.

Grasses by the garden

Do you see this little green tree???? Well it has a little story - a few years ago before it grew there was a taller tree right where this on is, that got burnt down in a grass fire. One day in another grass fire, because the grass grows really tall here, I didn't even notice it until after the grass was all burnt down, I discovered this one. I was so happy and surprised to see it there.

Picture of pears on my new countertop and squash for soup.

This heart has been on my kitchen window since my oldest daughter was 12 or 13, so that was 17 years ago!!. She made it.

Little signs of spring in my garden, bulbs that were planted last year by the strawberries. It is so cold this year, but they are growing anyway.

Keeping busy

I am so excited~ today there were two Flickers furiously hunting for worms. Isn't he pretty or should I say handsome. His partner was around also.

I have been doing some mini scrapbooking , all these little squares with bible verses on them are going to be put on a ring and then I will see if I can give it away to someone.

This was my mothers old blender- an old Waring, when my Oster broke down this one came out of the bottom drawer. It workd perfectly and blends smoothies really well. It even has a crack at the base and still works.
I have been eating raw food for a year now and lost about 60 pounds and with winter here and not working don't ask how much weight has come back on!!!! But I love eating raw and with summer coming and gardening i shall lose it again-15lbs. Here is something i made up the other day ! instead of cheese slice zucchini very thin, salt with sea salt, put thinly slices tomatoes on top and you can put some tofu cream cheese on it too with other stuff and roll it all on a romaine leaf. Very Good!

Here is a really good smoothie recipe which you can warm up at low temp on the stove. 3-4 celery stalks
1/2 avacado
2 green onions
1 small zucchini
1 med artichike
handful of parsley (and cilantro if you like it)
1 small tomato
1 tbsp miso and tahini
2 cups water
Put all in blender and there you have a pretty smoothie. I added spinach too.

Snow Angels

These pictures were together on my computer and you kind of have to wonder if she is really crying or not or just giving up on the weather!!! It is snowing again this morning and cold out. Are we really ever going to have spring??

Here is something from home today- a little birdhouse church that you can make for weddings even, or women's luncheons, put candies or Bible verses or bird seed in and put them on place settings at the table. Decorate it with flowers if you wish. It's cute. Would like a real one to put outside for the birds.

Sabbath afternoon ride

Here a deer popped out of the bush in front of me for a good two hundred yards and then into the bush again, up the road a bit another deer did the same thing!
this i think is the Kispiox River very low at this time of year, but looks pretty with the snow lining the banks
Sam river, you can see the crosswise logs on top of the rock where the flood washed them up last year Betty and I went looking for bluebirds and found one! saw a hundreds of siskins and red somethings, and a woodpecker. Very nice ride after a delicious dinner, good conversation, and moving simple communion Sabbath. Thanks be to God.
